Activity Calendars & The Voice
“The Voice” is our monthly guide to Life Enrichment programs with detailed descriptions of scheduled activities, events and trips.
Joining most classes is open to anyone, whether living on or off campus, without the need for signing up. However, registration is required for trips – visit the front desk or use the form to the right.
For community members not residing on campus and joining a van trip, convenient parking is available at the JCC Denver’s lower parking lot. Simply catch the van there.
Life Enrichment is more than a perk:
It promotes healthy physical aging.
Staying active can help older adults manage chronic medical conditions, maintain healthy bones, muscles, and joints and prolong independence.
It fosters social connection.
Feeling connected to others can reduce stress and anxiety, lower the risk of depression, and lead to a longer life. It also provides a sense of belonging, which contributes to self-esteem.
It preserves cognitive health.
Keeping the mind active improves memory and reasoning abilities, and gives an overall sense of achievement. Our programs help preserve and sometimes improve their brain health.
Intergenerational Programs
Our intergenerational programs reveal the power of connection, fostering improved mental wellness and opportunities for understanding, appreciation, and relationship-building between residents and students/young adults. Our offerings include:
- Music and Memory: Music serves as a tool to unlock memories and bring joy to our residents. Paired with student volunteers, they listen to music, discuss its significance and share personal stories.
- Opening Minds Through Art (OMA): OMA, an international program, utilizes art to enhance autonomy and creativity in the lives of our residents, fostering intergenerational relationships. Student volunteers engage in one-on-one sessions each week, collaborating on pre-planned abstract art projects.
