Jan Karski is one of the unsung heroes of the Holocaust, whose remarkable courage and unwavering moral compass have left an indelible mark on history. Scholar Judy Winnick will talk about his extraordinary life during World War II, when Karski, a fearless secret courier, risked everything to expose the horrors unfolding across Europe. His efforts included a crucial meeting with President Franklin D. Roosevelt, where he urgently warned world leaders about the atrocities being committed against European Jewry. Karski’s unparalleled bravery and moral clarity earned him the title of Honorary Citizen of the State of Israel, and he is commemorated at Yad Vashem as one of the Righteous Among the Nations. In the later years of his life, Karski became a respected professor at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. His legacy endures, and his name—Jan Karski—should never be forgotten.
